  • I think it's cruel to breed double merles, they can become deaf and blind. Is it forth of the white colour? :(

  • I agree, It is a horrible practice. We got Snowy from a rescue, but before we got her she was used as a breeding dog, even with all her issues.

  • your dogs are beautiful. i too have a sheltie (sable & white) whom i love to death. how did snowy become both deaf and mute? ive never seen a white sheltie before, let alone one who is deaf and mute

  • She is a double merle, a genetic defect that can happen from bad breeding - when merles are bred together. The deafness is common with that. as for being mute, she was born with excess cartiledge around her trachea that won't allow her voice box to work. She also has a club foot and limited vision, but she is a happy little thing despite all!

  • It's just terrible that someone used Snowy for breeding purposes with all her issues. I'm glad she was rescued from that -- she seems like a happy girl. You were so kind to adopt this sweet girl.

  • I have a Sheltie. Dr. Seuss would contend that a Sheltie is a Sheltie no matter how quiet. I don't see deafness as an impairment, albeit an inconvenience, possibly because I may be headed that direction. I think some deaf teens who have self-esteem issues could really benefit from seeing Snowy and other deaf animals because there's nothing wrong with them. I'm slightly hard-of-hearing and my speech is starting to go. We don't have to have a voice to be loud!!!

  • Your dogs and cats are all precious! thank you for sharing your special baby Snowy with everyone on Youtube!

  • Yes, it is cruel, but this person got it from a rescue, it's not their fault!! They gave it a better life! Goodness...

  • If Snowy was used for breeding, I'd bet that she was from a unscrupulous puppy mill. We also rescued a double-merle(of course, from a puppy mill) who is white with tan, and is profoundly deaf with some decrease in vision. He had been in a crowded cage& had never felt ground under his paws. The "breeder" was going to drown him because he was "defective", which is common practice. This little guy is the happiest & most loving dog I've ever known&he greets every day with a happy, wagging tail!

  • I was this wondering, you've probably said in some of your videos. and i'm sorry if you did, but is she also blind

  • I like how at the end she finally gave up trying to bug him lol cute

  • maggie hates this shit

  • What a sassy thing! I love Shelties. How wonderful you gave this one a loving home.

  • snowy needs to lighten up...lol....i love all the videos you put up here on snowey. Whenever I need to cheer up I watch them. He is a character! Bless you for loving him. Everyone always thinks everything needs to be perfet, including their pets. I love them all.

  • The deafness is caused by a "double merle" genetics. Both parents were blue merles. She's lucky she's not blind, too. However, being mute is caused by being deaf. She doesn't know what a bark sounds like, but she knows what it looks like.
