Oh, and I also feel that the UI is not great (I heard customization somewhere, which would be great) and I feel the touchscreen is not very well integrated with the design of the interior... I also wonder whether the connection of the car is via the phone or if it has it's own 3G antenna.

I am a big fan of high tech and I believe this touchscreen can be of great use. However, I see many mistakes: It draws attention, hence distractions and such. Interaction requires looking, while if controls were physical, you could recognize them without looking. There is a lot of glare in the movie, I hope that is just because of the camera, I wouldn't like to be having a hard time following directions. I do like the fact that there is also a screen where the navigation panel normally is.

Tesla should learn from the split-view touchscreen displays of Range-Rovers...& please make it smudge-resistant before launching the post-production version!

You would think they would use transflective technology with the console to reduce the glare on the screens, millions of dollars spent to develop this car and obviously they did not think of this one... I spent maybe a grand and the system i have in my eclipse is better. Check out my channel for proof.

@sammyByou Not sure it will work. It's a touch screen remember? If you don't look at the screen you might touch the wrong button even if it morphs into a physical one. If they morph into buttons they still remain touch sensitive and won't work like plastic buttons if you accidentally touch them when not looking at the screen.

@jednoucelovy absolutely, i can play with my stereo without looking at it

It seems to me the ideal system would be a flexible OLED that could physically morph into buttons/knobs. That way the interface can still be updatable, while allowing the driver to feel for controls instead of having to look at the display.

I hate touchscreens. You never know where the damn button is without watching it closely.

Don't worry about a tv. The u.s. forbids auto manufacturerereres to include tv and playable dvd players from the factory.
The glare on the screen is remiscent or reminding of the glare on the screens of the Apple I phones and on some HP Lap Top models. Tesla should do something about that. I like the touch screen. I am not negative of Tesla, I write to improve and better things for people and earth. I support Tesla and all electric car companes. But I hope the car can play DVD while being drivin and that it is Television and Internet ready. It will be 80% close to the perfect car.

Having a TV next to the driver makes me a little nervous. His ass should focus on driving.
On another note, I don't trust people to be responsible enough NOT to watch it while driving.... it's just a dangerous concept.
