I had to create an iMovie for one of my graduate studies classes, so here it is. It's pretty awful, but that's that. =)

  • Anyone know the title to the song at the end?

    'Well-A-Take-Um-A-Joe' reveals no hits.

    thanks

  • The song is called "Well-A-Take-Up-A-Joe." It's by Slim and Slam (1930s band). If you haven't ever heard of them, they're amazing! You'll love their work =)

  • this was actually quite good it helped me alot!

  • I'm glad it came in handy =)

  • Any guys attempting to impress a girl with some simple swing: learn this! It works wonders; as long as the girl you're trying to impress isn't already a magnificent dancer. Put on some soft jazz and teach her this basic dance if you really want to convince her into that first date.

  • ive got to teach a bunch of 5-8 year olds this and the charleston but im only 14 and am finding it reallllyyyy hard to learnn ......

  • @YelloObelisk It's actually listed in the credits ;-) But yes Slim and Slam are amazing! I highly recommend some others by them: Jump Session, Look-A-There, Flat Feet Floogie, and Potato Chips.

Great video, I taught someone Lindy last night and this reinforces everything I said :)

  • @vphargis Slim Gallaird and his bassist were a duo that was big in the 30a-40s. Slam ended up in a mental institution because of his drug use, but Slim managed to keep his career going. There is a boxset of Slim's material released in England, but available at better USA record stores. It's rather cheap because it's past the copyright date. Slim is the guy in the gas station attendant suit at the start of the "Hellazapoppin" dance sequence. He's on guitar before the Whitey's dancers come out.

  • it would look even cooler if the chick was wearing a skirt....

it looks a bit boring or not as enthusiastic without a skirt if you know what i mean? (:

    but nice video!!

  • Slim Gallard is the guy in the gas station attendant costume you see playing guitar in Hellzapoppin'. There is a jam session with several musicians in their "day job: costumes that start playing. Whitey's Lindhoppers with Frankie Manning then come out and do one of the most famous Lindy Hop segments on film.

  • I don't think it's awful. It's the most helpful video I've found on YouTube!

  • Very helpful ! I catch on slow but i cought on fast with this !

  • good song

  • Good for basic lindy. Thank you!

  • @LupusSolivagus waltzing works even better! just put on some frank sinatra, waltz and you're all set
