The percussion adds to the epicness of the piece. Without it, the song would build up like every other string quartet. Give it a fair go. It seems as though you are being critical based on your personal view of what you consider good. I think it could be critiqued better from other perspectives. This is classical meets pop. Not classical! (from what I've researched anyway). And yes, it is amazing!

What is post-rock to you? Post rock is a very broad term that is pretty much inadequate as a genre label.
