How to update to Android 2.2 Froyo on the Galaxy S

i have the latest versio of Kies 2.0, is that still alright to update my galaxy s from 2.1 to 2.2?

hi stacey...i just want to ask if any version of kies is applicable to this..? i've seen some version of kies that was used to download 2.2 is lower than what i've found in the net which is i think latest ver as of now,its ver 2...i'm trying to upgrade my phone and i think this vid will help...

@larsalexanderson this video was made a while back, so there is probably a new version of kies now :) always use the latest version

@Staceyraver thanks again...i appreciate the response.....but the main concern is where can i get the firmware for froyo..? like what you said, latest Kies will be ok, so the problem is the main firmware...could you send me some reliable site..? i'm from philippines so some of the stalls here does not really upgrade androids so i think i'll do it myself...tnx again miss stacey...

@larsalexanderson when you download kies, froyo should come with it :) if you're phone is elegible for upgrading as soon as you plug it in you will get a notification in the kies window saying that it is ready to upgrade

does it delete ur downloaded applications after update? Can u do it when there's no internet connection? If yes, What happen when updating u suddenly lose internet connection?

I'm going to be getting a samsung predesent on Straight Talk running android 2.2 is there gonna be a way to upgrade that to 3.0?? Kinda like how you can upgrade iOS

well my device wasnt the right one its the samsung galaxy s captivate from at&t and at&t sent me a message to update my phone to andriod 2.2 (froyo) and iv never done any other updates but yeah kies 2.0 dosnt support my device and it says my device is SGH-I897 a little help?

You know when you connect your Galaxy S to your computer and when you get a notification which says update firmware

what does this mean?

PDA:JP4 / PHONE:JP3 / CSC:JP4

does it matter what the numbers are? cus when i search on google, I get alot of different numbers, so im a little bit confused there :)
