This is a K'nex gun I've developed. I noticed that a lot of designs out there involve a lot of green rods and flat sides. Not that it's a bad thing, but for those of us with only 400 pieces (total), it's not a practical approach to building a k'nex gun.
Even though the handle and the trigger box is somewhat boxy (to my dismay) it's the only way I could get the trigger mechanism to work.
If you'd like a better description of the trigger mechanism, or maybe even a video of how the trigger works, let me know.
About the trigger: I've seen plenty of trigger designs which block the ram-rod/push-rod. This didn't quite work out for me, so I had to come up with my own idea (as far as I can tell, no one I've seen used this type of trigger before).
Obviously, because there are so many of us out there, no design is ever truly unique. So if you think I've modded something from a design of yours, than you know who you are and I appreciate the concept you've allowed me to modify.
Sorry in advance if the pictures come out a little blurry. I might put this video up on filefront if the quality is bad enough.
Update: I have a newer gun (newer than that of the K'nex projectile launcher #2). Will post a video (more correctly: a slide show) of the gun soon!

Well, I took a good long look at the trigger mechanisms in place and decided that there had to be a better way. And I thought about using gears to reverse the force of the rubber band, and then I experimented with how to actually cock the gun. From there it was a short hop, skip, and a jump away to getting to the finalized gear mechanism you see in this video

Ahhhh...instructions? lol, well, that might be a little hard to do, as I've taken it apart and created the 2nd version of this gun, which is better. By a lot. But if you really want to make this, then I have the following advice:
Get a needle-nose plier. It'll really come in handy. Then build the gun starting with the barrel and work your way backwards toward the handle. The needle-nose pliers come in handy when creating the spacing around the barrel of the gun.
