  • Pathe Actuelles were needle-cut dubbings from original hill-and-dale recordings, made to play on conventional gramophones.

The increased low-frequency rumble in these discs betrays their origins.

None the less, a very interesting selection.

  • Pleasing rendition. Jules Levy, Jr.'s dad was a cracker-jack of a cornetist. His Edison recordings are incredibly impressive. Thanks for this posting!

  • Never heard a version of this song I didn't like--including this one!

  • @saltburner2 Up to 1926 or so, Pathe recorded to cylinders (Concert 5" size) and dubbed from that, and sometimes they dubbed to submasters, thus causing some distortion, as you said.

  • You are correct. Basically, Spencer Adams was a pseudo. for Synco Jazz, a pseudo. itself for Joseph Samuels Music Masters!
