Spoken word written to vent about racism that still exists.

Racism Hides

I only tell jokes about stereotypes.
Im not being racist Im just trying to generalize
Black is ghetto, brown is illegal, and yellow goes eeeeeeeeeeer-crash,
Im not saying this relates to you. Im just saying generally its true
Im not trying to say he did it, its just people who look like him do it too.
Im not saying all of you are that way, Im just pointing out a general rule

I mean, didnt racism die?

Besides,
I cant be racist, I have a friend whose name is Carlos, and another, whose name is Darrell.
I cant be racist. I hang out with them every, once in a while.
May have said those words, but you cant prove I meant it like that.
Im not saying youre the culprit, its just, the proof is in the facts.
See I cant be racist if I have statistics and probabilities on my side.
Im not pointing to a person, Im just looking at a type
I cant be called racist if I package it in this guise.

Cause racism hides

It hides behind jokes that are meant as benign
Racism is packaged in little white boxes in all of our minds
In words that start with N, C, G, and any other letter you can get your hands on to demean someones pride
Its packaged in phrases not meant in that way
Us vs. them, not saying black or white, it lies somewhere in the gray
Oh come on, dont take it personal when I was just tryna play.
See, everyone can have these ideas in some way.

Cause racism lies

In holding my purse more tightly as you walk by.
In movies that have only the one token colored guy.
Filling a quota, so a percentage can seem to be high
Affirmative action so we can make it look like were trying to make things right

But racism survives

In the distance we place between the groups that we find
It lies on both sides of the track, each side, knowing the others words will attack.
When driving over that line in fact,
Tickets are given to outsiders for a DWB, driving while black.

In comments made behind closed doors,
It may not hang on trees anymore,
But racism lives on the streets and in the courts.
In security guards following only some around the store
In the color of the children posted on amber alerts and the response time of the ambulances coming to our doors.
In police profiling, in the prisons, in corporations and the color of those who makes more
In the classrooms before and after February gets the floor.
Dont worry, you get one month a year.
One month, vs. day to day? Who got the wrong end of that deal?

Racism lives

In the history thats taught
From those who were bought
In the lingo they use when they know you are near
In those who are at the topuntil the 2009 year, Obama is here!!!
Which by the way, his election should not have been a victory or a celebration, it should have been the norm.

Now that were aware, that we know everyone can achieve the same?
Why arent we lifting each other up each day?
Why are we still discussing poverty, and whos to blame?
Why do we see color and think were not the same?

Cause the more we point the finger at whos more racist now
The blacks, or the whites, the yellows or the browns,
The more itll separate our towns.
Lets see people, not color, what do you say?
We pass each other by on the streets every day
But instead of assuming how they look like they should behave
Like the looks that I got, when my white ass walked up on this stage

We bring down our belief in others, only through what we see through our eyes.
I would say that I dont assume things based on skin, and instead whats inside, but why would I lie

We ALL do it, and were ALL to blame.
Some more than others maybe, but we need to start being the same.
We all need to be a part of the solution, instead of trying to beat each other at our forefathers game.
Its time to open up the conversation and put it on the table.
Not just the safe dinner table inside of our homes, with others who look and think like us,
We need to take it to the streets
And talk about it to everyone we meet.
We cant learn from each others stories, when theyre so hard to find.
And until we look at it through someone elses eyes,
No matter how hard we try,
Well never be able to kill the racism, thats hidden inside.

Because racism hides.

  • Sweetie! You said everything that needed to be said about America and its hidden racist views. So glad that there are those who TRUELY UNDERSTAND HOW THIS SICK GAME REALLY WORKS...Awesome Poem!

  • very good.

  • Its human nature you twat, people who hide it are brainwashed pussies..

Can you distinguish between a blackbear and a grizzlies, so why are you pretending there is only one human race ?

In captivity, if these bears would grow up together, they would eventually fuck each other!

BUT IN NATURE THEY WOULD KILL EACH OTHER!

  • Thank you. I hear you. Never mind the other comments. You did good lady. You did good. xxx

  • I wanted to hear the story but the "little" poem seriously got in the way. I'm leaving and whatever message you had was lost in your hard to understand delivery.

  • Is the girl on the video Jewish, spewing usual Jewish PC/Multikulti brainfuck targeting white people, or is she a naive brainwashed white girl?

    Anyway, anti-racist is a code-word for anti-white.

    Racism is a self-defence reaction.

Colored people won't see you as one of their own, they will always see the color of your skin first.

So my question to the girl (in case she isn't Jewish):

WHEN WAS IT EVER, YOUNG LADY, THAT A RACIST WHITE MAN EVER HURT YOU OR OFFENDED YOU? Let me guess: never, ever.

  • They're just mad because you're speaking the truth my sister. Bible says we should always speak the truth to each other. Speaking of truth... it is now scientific fact that the first people here on earth were people of Africa... furthermore... everyone else is a descendent of those first Africans.

In other words there is only Africans and descendents of Africans.

  • Listen people...

Race as we know it is a myth, a social construct. A social

construction or social construct is any phenomenon "invented" or

"constructed" by participants in a culture or society, existing

because people agree to behave as if it exists or follow certain

conventional rules. "The Social Construction of Reality" (1966).

"One example of a social construct is social status!"
