Dennis O'Clair from MarkerTek.com was nice enough to send me a cable to review to defeat or disable the AGC on the Canon DSLR like the 7D and T2i/550D.

It appears to be well made and works just fine as you can see in the video.

I think it is a little pricey at $26.95, but it is a very special cable that they mostly like will not make a ton of them. I made mine for a lot cheaper, but if you do not know how to solder this can be a big help.

You can purchase it here if you like. (I do not make any money off this cable).

  • I just picked up a Videomic Pro which has a high pass filter and three different built in gain options. Would the tone being fed remain the same throughout all these different settings?

  • @skindoobie I have not tried that mic. But 0db pad should work for most situations.

  • I"m sorry, could someone explain to me what the cable is for?

  • @joejumps4fun Go to my site and search for AGC Hack and you can see what is about.

  • Did you use the Rode Videomic for this cast?

  • is a canon DSLR AVCHD camera? or a HDV camera?

  • @lukichu did that, thanks for your help :)

  • Hey Dave! Magic Lantern!!

  • @reballuk no just go into your menu, press Q then select agc off

  • if I put magic lantern, do I still need the seperate mp3 player and cable?

  • hi i have a canon 7D and from all the videos ive seen i cannot seem to find a solution with the 7D will it not work because it doesnt have Manual sound? also how do you connect the audio recorder if it doesnt have an output on the sescom lead? would you have to buy a double ended jack for this? to plug into the sescom lead to the audio recorder?

  • @drumat5280 first: thanks dave for all the effort, great channel. just got my videomic pro, got the cable, downloaded your sine tone and ran a few tests. you're totally right, the mic at 0dB and the sine at around 75% produced the best results so far. two minor suggestions: get a proper clip for your mp3 player and a windjammer, too.

  • will this work for the t3i?
