INFO ON EQUIPPING TWIN SPEARS:
In order to equip Twin Spears, you must have fulfilled a few requirements. The requirements are:
1. Be level 24
2. Finish the Hell Beyond the Door battle quest in Ainle and bring the Broken Wand to Ellis (this is a story quest, so follow the story and you will finish this one before reaching level 24)
3. You must have rank D Twin Sword Mastery (you should have at least this much anyway to lower the weight of your swords)
4. The final requirement is to kill 15 wisps with secondary weapon spears. However, you can't get the title needed to finish the quest until you complete 1-2 (3 is simply for using the mastery book). After getting the first 2 requirements, talk to Marrec. He will have a quest for you; get the Twin Spear Wielder title. The easiest and fastest way to do this is go into the perilous ruins and do the Wind Through the Ruins Quest, where a few wisps spawn right in the beginning.
After finishing the above, you will get 2 skill books. 1 is for Twin Spear Mastery, which you need to equip the most basic Twin Spear, Iron Twin Spear. The other is Fury Infusion, a skill that raises your attack and critical hit rate for about 200 HP. The more you rank the skill, the less HP you lose per use, and the greater the attack + critical hit rate (each rank gives 120 extra attack, and at rank 9, the rank after A, you can use it while moving, plus you no longer have to charge it up), and it lasts slightly longer each rank. Guides say to max this skill ASAP, which is something I agree with. Why turn down a boost of 900 attack and 22% extra critical hit rate for 14 seconds. It really raises your DPS by a lot (imagine hitting critical hits twice as often with 120% damage already tacked on).
UPDATE 11/16/10: I am willing to help any new players with battle quests, getting used to the game, or any miscellaneous questions. If anything puzzles you, please comment or PM me with the question.
UPDATE 11/11/10: THANK YOU EVERYONE SO MUCH FOR THE 1K+ VIEWS.
I am now level 32, and am using the Blood Lancer. I'll post a video later today showing how different the Blood Lancer is compared to the level 24 twin spear.
Anyway, sorry about the wall of text. Don't read it unless you want my detailed description of the skills. I hope you enjoy this video, there will be more videos coming your way.
So this is my Lann character Gnawliryc in Vindictus. I made a video about a month ago featuring the gameplay of Vindictus. Now I am level 24 and can use Twin Spears, the alternate weapon for people who make Lann (for people who made Fiona, her alternate weapon is a hammer, and for the upcoming Evie, her alternate weapon is a battle scythe).
So this is just a vid featuring the gameplay of Twin Spears. If you want to check out the gameplay of Twin Swords, check out my other Vindictus video. As you may see, the gameplay differs in several manners. Twin Spear Lann gets different smashes (excluding the running smash), loses the primary smash (only pressing the smash key does not do anything except use Fury Infusion, which is a Twin Spear exclusive skill that boosts attack and critical hit rate), and loses the ability to Slip Dash. However, in return for losing the slip dash, he gains a forward leap-dodge that is also an attack. While it uses a HUGE amount of Stamina (30 for 1 leap) it has a pretty high critical hit rate and lets you get away faster when there is a destructible obstacle in your way.
The 4 different smashes each do different amounts of damage and hit a different number of times.
The first smash hits 3 times, has low damage/range (and easily misses on enemies with smaller hitboxes), but has a high critical hit rate due to multiple attacks.
The second smash hits once, does relatively high damage, and has a more than 360 degree range of coverage, though the range of the attack itself is low.
The third smash, my personal favorite, hits 6 times. It does average damage, and like the first smash, has a low range and small coverage range. However, it makes up for it with a huge critical hit rate (there have been at least 20 instances where Gliding Fury activated before the smash even finished) and is great for knocking back monsters to the side of you, not to mention a great move for downed bosses, though it is easily outshined by the fourth smash.
The fourth smash is the one that most people make Twin Spear Lanns for. It is a spinning attack that looks similar to the second smash, but it does more damage, has a huge critical hit rate, and best of all, if you hold down the smash key, it keeps going until you run out of stamina. You can also move around while using it, and if you are attacking a boss with it, you will not be knocked back if you are hit. I would say that my favorite smash is a tie between third and fourth.
Anyway, really sorry about the wall of text, and I hope you enjoy this video. More to come soon!
