Man Dies After Being Tased, Troopers Put On Leave

NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (AP) ― Five State Patrol troopers have been put on paid administrative leave after a Fridley, Minn. man died after being tased Tuesday afternoon, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

The troopers' administrative leave is standard procedure following such events.

Troopers had been summoned to a traffic crash on Interstate 694 in New Brighton, Minn. at about 5 p.m., where they had a confrontation with what authorities referred to as an "uncooperative" motorist.

In attempting to bring the driver under control, troopers deployed a taser.

The driver, who hasn't been identified yet, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

The case is currently being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

How many thousands of deaths will it take before there's a correlation strong enough to conclude healthy people being tazed leads to murder? F'ckin STOOOOPID people who justify ANY excess police action as 'saving lives'. Tazers have become a cheap substitute for common-sense, experience, training and professionalism. 50,000 children disappear each year, 25,000+ traffic deaths, 40,000+ 'accidental' hospital deaths, 30,000 gunshot deaths, 135,000 environmental deaths, -0- terrorism killings ...

You are waaaaaaaaaaaay off on this one... Depending on where you get your numbers it is anywhere from 5 to 1 - 3 to 1 officer deaths to taser related deaths. Even if the number was what you say it is, only unhealthy, drug induced criminals are dying, so who gives a flying fuck??? Also if you look at how many lives and injuries the taser saves, the benefits far outweigh the so called negatives.
