Part 3 of 3 PJ Kim won first place in the HBS Public Speaking Contest in 2006 after also winning in 2005. He subsequently delivered the HBS Class Day speech during graduation. PJ ended up not accepting any of his job offers and decided to run an anti-poverty nonprofit program in New York City to help low income families receive tax credits, nutritional assistance, health insurance, and financial and legal counseling, then he ran unsuccessfully for New York City Council in 2009 to represent Lower Manhattan (www.PJKIM.com). He then served as the Executive Director of the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy and is currently the Executive Director of New York Needs You, a nonprofit whose mission is to help New Yorkers who are first in their family to attend college and community college to achieve their academic and career ambitions (www.newyorkneedsyou.org). He is still tempted by his exes and drinks his own kool-aid from time to time. He definitely hoards cookies whenever he can.

  • great speech

engaging, great use of humor and great opening and closing. brillant

  • PJ,

Amazing, amazing speech. I was laughing so hard I was crying. Rooting for you to win in the election!

  • I really like this speech. the speech was funny, inspiring and witty.

I like the how you structured your speech. Strong opening and definitely a funny closing. The cookie did for me. I thought the content of the speech was powerful and knowledgable.

In terms of tone of voice was great but for future speeches you need to play with you tone of voice. The body expression was restricted perhaps you may want to be more vivid.

  • great job 5/5...smart move with the credit cards
