In this haunting hymn to fallen stars, Fred Eaglesmith does more than convey his own sorrow for the deaths of the artists at the song's focus; he also expresses our great collective loss that such spectacular talents and unique voices could be stilled forever by drugs and alcohol. Still, perhaps Eaglesmith's deeper accomplishment is to acknowledge both the continuing appeal of drugs and alcohol and the toll they extract in countless lives, without pretending (either to himself or to his audience) to have all the answers. Sometimes, it is enough to mourn, Eaglesmith reminds us, and to wonder what might have been—and still could be.

  • It's interesting how many people don't like Bob Dylan or Neil Young. You're one of those slack jawed idiots that thinks things made out of plywood are every bit as good as somthing hand carved. Crawl back in your mainstream cave and quit posting for the good of those without a solid bone head with just enough room left for a walnut.

  • Add Michael Jackson in the next release :)

I like it... rather than a blanket anti-drug message, it specificaly warns of the danger of alchol mixed with sedatives (neither will kill you alone most likely but together you could just kicj it)

  • @NiceGuyBadThings And Amy <3

  • @PTPHackReport No, it's hiccupping.

  • @boomhauer15 its not hiccupping your audio configuration is messed up .-.

  • fix the sound for heaven's sake, it keeps like, hiccuping. for once i'd like to find a song i like on youtube that doesn't do that.

  • Some here have commented that Fred is an "asshole." Your opinion, so what? Do you look to artists to be your good buddies who you can hang out with and get bragging rights with your friends? Maybe you met him once and he was having a bad day, haven't you ever had one? What the f**k makes you so special? I heard Neil Young is a control freak, but I've loved his music for 40 years. I'm not looking to hang out with him, just enjoy his art. Get over yourself, shut up and listen or just go away.

  • Amy Winehouse - this one's for you. RIP

  • I enjoy his music. A relative of mine turned me on to him by hiring for a ridicoulously large and wonderful birthday bash that was part of her bucket list. Speaking to another relative at my cousin's funeral a few years later. I learned that he... hadn't been the nicest person you could ask for. offstage.
