  • I think you should help him, But just because he has all cd's doesn't make a Dj old, just wait you all will be old someday also, and how would you feel? ask yourself how about a 20yo Dj telling you your old at 40?

  • It's not a matter of being Old, Dave. It's a matter of appealing to a younger crowd in order to work period.

I have no dillusions about my age. I do what I feel is nessessary to change with the times and so far, I'm still a viable option for the average brides and grooms in my area.

  • do u have a real JOB ????

  • Nope, only fake ones

  • I agree, I upgrade my lights almost yearly. I have so many repeat clients & I am sure that they would be tired of seeing the same lights over & over again.

  • It's great to collaborate with people with passion.

  • Yes! I think you should at least make an attempt to help relax your mind, so it doesn't bother you as much. Being an older DJ isn't such a bad thing, I am 46 and been in business since 1985. I still use CD's because of the system I use. Mp3's still sound like crap. So maybe ask him if he'd like to help you with some of your gigs. Maybe he'd pick up somethings that you.

    Good Luck.

  • just show him this video

  • Whether or not he is receptive has nothing to do with him being a DJ. The mere fact that he asked you about bookings at Evolve and that he was only booked a few times that summer screams HELP!!! I think this DJ you speak of would be quite open to any suggestions you may have.

  • I think that when you are doing a gig for a special occasion, like a wedding, i think that appearence is the greatest impression that you could give to somebody because weddings are well planned and there is so much organization that comes along with it, so it is a must to come in proper attire because there are pictures and a theme set involved

  • "The young guys don't have that experience, they didn't see what we saw" I'm confused with this, are you a veteran Dj or a Vietnam Vet?

Best Dj I ever saw was a guy in his mid-fifties, who looked and dressed age appropriate, but his tune selection and mixing ability was smokin' hot (jazzy hip-hop, funk and disco).

What comes out of the speakers is the most important thing at the end of the day.

  • That light makes the steak look so wierd o.O

  • how much money do you make?

  • Well Brian i think you should help him give him some good sound advice as you always do,you give me good advice and i have been doing this since 1979 so that should tell you how old i am my friend sums it up like this each one teach one,now i dont come of like i know it all i would love to learn from the new young dj's and work with them im glad we have youtube and brian s. redd and dj tutor

  • A DJ is a lot like a an actor. Not ever actor is right for every role, and no DJ to be right for every gig. I know kids that want to get into doing mobile DJing, but just don't project the right image - i.e. Baggy pants, has never tucked a shirt in before and dress up shoes are his black sneakers. I could never send one of these guys to a corporate event or an upscale wedding. So rather than this being about age, it's probably more about general suitability.
