Chinese Theatre Works - Fighting In the Dark

This well known opera scene is derived from the legendary exploits of the Yan Family of generals and fighters.

In this particular episode, a young officer of the Yan clan, Tanghuai Ren is sent on a dangerous mission. He stops at an inn for the night where the innkeeper, Lihua Liu, a professional thief, mistakes Ren for a wealthy man and sneaks into his darkened room at night in order to kill and rob him. To the innkeeper's surprise, his guest is no easy mark. The portrayal of their fight in the pitch-black room is a famous showcase for specialists in Peking Opera martial arts roles.
