we were only in Iraq for oil from the beginning. we built the largest military bases in the world and an embassy compound bigger than Vatican city. thats not a temporary deal. and theres not enough oil in Iraq to change anything. Iraq has 90 billion barrels but the worlds using 85 million a day so 90 billion barrles would only last a few years.

The problem here is a violation of criminal laws and sacred American principles. If you believe for political reasons that those who committed crimes should not be punished because they thought the Rule of Law didn't apply if they ordered it, then you share their contempt for any other law but executive orders, and believe they should be bound merely by their fear of what they could get away with.

It's painfully clear that Bush's (and Cheney's) intention when they received the power of executive office that they wanted to take down "this dictator" in Iraq and be remembered in history for sparking the first embers of democracy in the middle east, and have it encroachingly sanctify the surrounding territories from their original gestation.
They needed a reason to justify the war, and said "well then... waterboard the fucker again until he gives a connection" from their comfortable offices.

If it's not torture then why does it matter what pelosi knew? you're either going to have to label it as torture and prosecute EVERYBODY involved..or drop it.
