My Son Jared had a spinal surgery scheduled. He has undergone 5 years of diagnosis and has endured more at age 6 than most folks will in a lifetime. I wanted him to understand how we felt as parents to struggle with emotions of sorrow, hope, admiration, and helplessness as we sent him in to the surgeons. I performed this song for him shortly before the surgery but was unable to do it without tears. I figured I would post a smoother take of it for him to see, as I am not able to be with him in the hospital.
Jared, you are awesome. I can't wait until you can come home!
Love,
Dad
Here's the lyrics:
No one, can fathom the way you feel inside.
So much to grow in so little time.
But you find the strength to shine.
You take on the trails and tribulations in stride.
'Cause you are like sunshine to the rain.
The warmth of your smile and song in your heart inspires.
I wish I could stand in and take your place
so you could just run and play.
With pride you fill us up inside.
As much as we teach you you teach us about life.
When times are tough on you our hearts subside.
I wish for more I could do to help you get away and just be a child.
I wish I could stand in and take your place.
So you could just run and play.
Just run and play.
Run away and play.
