2003 Ford Expedition XLT

This has the base engine which is the 4.6L V8 making 232 HP While Paired to a 4 Speed Auto.

If you must have an 2003 or 2004 Expedition, do yourself a favor & opt for an Expedition with the 5.4L V8. The 4.6L is just too weak & slow of an engine to haul around this 5000lbs+.

  • my 2003 expedition eddie bauer is very slow

  • @714slugger Some 03-04 Eddie Bauers came with the weak 4.6L :( Just too heavy of a truck for that engine. Sometimes the 4.6L would use more gas than the 5.4L as it has to work harder

  • I don't agree with the 5.4 as being the better motor. There's not much difference in hp between the two motors and the 5.4 is prone to more problems such as plug blow out, cracking (because they're a two piece plug) and they heavy as h*ll. The 4.6 engines are aluminum heads and block. The 5.4 is cast iron block with aluminum heads. There are a lot of shops that can rebuild that 4.6 motor better than new and with a lot more hp not to mention adding a supercharger. All for under $5000.

  • @ajhnson To be quite honest, my dad has bought Hundreds of 97-07 Expeditions, Navigators, F-150's ( The 2V, 3V, & 4V versions) & we never encountered of one with a blown plug. I have heard of the issue but never encountered it. Of them all, I recall a 99 f-150 4.6L with a blown head gasket & a 2004 5.4L 3V with a blown head gasket. Yet for some reason, the 4.6L in the 02-05 Explorer is very troubled with the timing chain + tensioner & many end up making rattling noises & lockup

  • From my experience I've seen just as many cracked dashes in Fords as I have GM, and I can prove that because I have 5 friends with F-150s, Expeditions, and Explorers and every single one of their dashes were cracked not to mention door panels are falling apart and mechanically they've been all nothing but problems. I know you're a Ford guy, I'm just basing off experience with Ford and GM which were not good at all.

  • @2004NissanSentra

I can tell you that the 1997-2002 Expeditions, 1997-2003(2004 Heritage) F-150s suffer. But I havent seen that issue on the New Generation 2004 F-150 or 2003 Expeditions. Never seen Explorers with that issues tho.

  • nice suv.

  • @yellowcow13 Im just making an observation, so theres no need to get mad. They both have hard dashes, and mostly hard door panels.

  • @Intechdude300 you're right the interior on the 04 and up F-150s is a lot better than any of those, and yes my friend's 02 Mountaineer (basically an Explorer) has a cracked dash and door panels falling apart. Quality really took a nosedive after 2002 but they really did something good for the F-150 in 2004. I live in an area of CA where it gets to be 110 degrees in the summer so dash cracking is 10x worse than what you got in FL which really puts quality to the test.

  • @etoyotarockshsucks lies the Corolla is a shit compared to this.
