La mythique FONKY FAMILY peut être considérée comme l'origine d'un courant de rap plus dur et violent à MARSEILLE CITY, prenant ainsi un virage assez net par rapport à IAM ou PSY4 DE LA RIME, qui développent un rap plus pacifiste. Même si la FF s'est quelque peu calmée, ce courant de GANGSTA RAP MARSEILLAIS s'est fortement développé et de nombreux groupes y appartiennent actuellement, relatant la dureté de la vie et la violence qui les entoure - guerre des gangs, drogue, meurtres.. (EPSILON, S-KRIM, BERRETA, CARRE ROUGE, FF, 10.KRET, PHONKNEG'Z, G.Ï.Z, GHOST DOG, D.A,...etc...). DEGUSTEZ C'EST DU BON!!!
