This is a promotional video for my recently finished to build instrument, to which I gave the name of "Martenottone". Allow me to justify this name. In my opinion, the name "Ondes Martenot" is improper, because
ondes Martenot is what the instrument provides. "Martenottone" (given to my version) is rather similar to "Termenvox" (the instrument of the Russian Lev Termen). So, I associated the family name of the French inventor (Maurice Martenot) with what the instrument produces (that is a... tone). Consequently, I put together "Martenot" and "tone" in one and the same word, obtaining, for my version, the name of "Martenottone" (in Romanian -- "Martenoton").

In the video I play a very old Japanese song of which name is "My Home Land" (Furusato). I dedicate this video to the Japanese people suffering after the strong earthquake which took place their country on 11 March 2011.

The video was recorded using my semi-professional camcorder, Sony DCR-VX 2000E. Orchestral arrangements are by George Natsis.

Thanks to Bob Williams (from Analogue Systems -- UK) for his French Connection controller as well as to John Blacet (from Blacet Research -- USA) for providing the VCO and VCA modules.

  • This song is great! But it doesn't have dogs and birds.

  • Please note that THIS song DOES have dogs and birds (and not the song from the other video - Old Romanian Romance...). I considered that for such a song (entitled 'My Home Land', that is a place of your childhood where you play footbal on the field, fish or play different games with other children) you can hear dogs and birds (unfortunately fishes do not make any sound !)

  • @BenedictPopescu This does have dogs and birds! This is brilliant! Thank you so much! : - )

  • I thank you too... and greetings from the other side of the planet !

  • Splendid!

  • Multumesc mult !

  • Ma bucur sa aud ca "stradaniile" mele artistice isi gasesc rezonanta in inimile unor romani care sint undeva departe de tara. Se pare ca traiti in Spania...
