  • i have here a diode and i get a reading of 170.(red lead to the enna and black lead to the cetta) is this diode bad ? its from a philips tft monitor.

  • @fakkyouhomo

a diode is bad when it conducts both ways or does not conduct at all.

  • hi gotoluc does it matter if i replace a bad diode that was 530 ohm with a 480 ohm diode ?

  • are there any more components that have an high % that they can burn of go bad on a pintboard off a philips tft monitor ? say after a power surge

  • @gotoluc well what i ment is 170 ohms. well i guess its good then. since it only conducts to one direction (the good way) but i asked it just because someone told me a good diode is between 600 to 900 ohms -_-

  • I'm not much of an electronic guy so I can't comment on your recommendation.

    Sorry and thanks for sharing.

  • this is where i would like to bring both yours and gotoluc's awarenous to a thing i have been looking at for this kind of plug spark.

    google HV optocoupler

its a high voltage isolation device that is swithed by LED light and has a fast recovery time.

i think it would be well suited for isolating the plug while the cap charges, then triggered by the LED's.

have a look and let me know what you think
