I think this part shows an immaturity and naivete in Shelby. Rather than going to the side of your man, you take a look at people's faces and run away. You have to know what and who you stand for or you have no business making a lifetime commitment to anyone. I felt bad for Meade in this part. So much for standing by your man".

I guess McNeil is the kind of guy that believes "if she didnt say I Do she aint". Seeing as how she isnt married yet she seems fair game to him. Dude she doesnt love you enough to leave her fiance (whom she loves) and run off to marry you, not to mention the fact take on 3 kids. Give it up

When i was younger i only saw 20 maybe 40 mintues of the movie and thought it was just a innocent crush. now he is getting creepy. smile in people face when he really doesnt want them to get married. how rude to sit up front at the table Meade had just 4 Shelby. now when he look over he sees u.then he tries to hold her hand its like he is jealous and wants them to call off the wedding. shelby is in denial thinking they will live in ny 4ever and wont be judged.he doesnt even have a stable job.
