South Devon Railway 'Cambrian Gala' - Monday 25th April 2011

The Easter Gala for the South Devon Railway this year took the theme of the Cambrian lines on the Welsh Coast. The highlight of the gala was visiting Cambrian engine 9017 'Earl of Berkley' which was one of the few tender locomotives allowed to run on the line. Also another highlight was 9017 working along side class 2251 no 3205 as this class also worked the Cambrian lines. To give the gala a 1950s/60s feel the line up consisted of 4 steam locomotives and 1 diesel.

The full line up was --
|GWR 'Dukedog' Class No 9017 'Earl of Berkley' (running without nameplates)
|GWR 2251 Class No 3205
|GWR 4575 Class No 5526
|GWR 1366 Class No 1369 (Acting as shed pilot)
|Class 25 No D7612

It was yet another warm sunny day which attracted out the crowds for the event, I attended this gala with theonlyadsrulz, JBTEvans & jamielw143

- 3205 arrives into Buckfastleigh
- 5526 takes a goods train to Bishops Bridge seen at Buckfastleigh
- 9017 departs Buckfastleigh with a goods train
- 5526 runs round at Buckfastleigh
- 5526 runs round at Totnes
- 5526 departs Totnes with the last service to Buckfastleigh of the day

Very nice mate! liked the shot of 9017 and 5526 leaving Staverton on the cambrian coast express! I liked some of the freight train combinations the SDR ran during this event too!
