@singhakabuttar ther are no exersises that can slow anyone down ,there are programs that can slow you down.Almost every mma athlete lift heavy weights but for strength and some wrestling power.Striking power isnt affected much at all by strength outside a beginner level, you dont have time to develope that much force. The program you mentioned would destroy any mma fighters technical training, its for building muscle ,not even strength at all.
-
@singhakabuttar thats entirely wrong,10 x 10 sets will kill anyone but a very experienced lifter , its a bodybuilders routine and would slow down most people and destroy youre ability to practise martial arts due to fatigue.Lighter weights certainly build power if pushed quickly and more if released. The most power has always been shown to result from submax weights. You are clueless.

@IEKUKATAKA heavy lifting may speed you up if done properly and especially for someone fairly new to heay weights. After a certain point, getting stronger wont make you a faster kicker or puncher.Heavy lifting can slow you down if carried too far.

MMA is not a specific martial art, MMA is just a combination of different martial arts. Why would anybody compare the two? S.M.H

Singa...whatever is that you spell that thing...do not compare martial arts to mma...is like comparing catholic and jew religion...so please dont compare it...we martial artist adapted to a way of life and we will not change doesn t matter if its good or bad...get it

@IEKUKATAKA 10 sets of a weight you can perform! power? first of all do you have any experience of training with weights? if not? like i said try this routine, there are certain exercises in weight training that can slow you down, shorten your reach, these three exercises will not do that. many mma fighters lift heavy weights, they are far from slow, lifting weights doesnt enable you to kill a elephant, mass multiplied by speed=power, try it before you knock it!

@singhakabuttar 10 sets of how much weight? Seems the factor that may determine white or red twitch fiber has been left out. Power? For what, to be able to pull a locomotive? And, why on earth would you try to tell me heavy lifting will not slow you down, that simply is not so. Karate, by it's nature, requires speed. Speed, by it's very nature, generates impact. Impact, by it's very nature, induces injury. No one needs to be able to kill an elephant, a human is very different.

@IEKUKATAKA lighter weights do not build speed or power, heavy squats and deadlifts give you a complete body workout for phenomenol strength gains, for an increase in power try this routine, monday 10 sets of 10 bench press. wednesday 10 sets of 10 squats, friday 10 sets of 10 deadlifts(not straight legged), in two months tell me if your striking speed/power has not increased. this routine will not slow you down.

@yossihaleva This demo does not show plyometrics which is an exercise that uses RAPID movement to develop muscles. A body builder will use heavy weights, multiple sets to build bulk. A karate ka should avoid that and instead use lighter weights, more reps, fewer sets to build speed and penetrating power. This drill is more for leg stamina at lowered stances, a JKA halmark. For combat, the karate ka should develop lower stances only for stamina and higher, normal stances for rapid movement.

It doesn't Plyometric legs training. It's working on the Concentic, Isometric and a litte bit of Excentric muscle contraction.
The main theme by Plyometic training is the rapid change between excentric contraction to concentic contraction.
Good luck.
