@musicforspeeding I don't know, maybe I'm saying lots of bullshit, but image takes a very important part in all this. I think Black Dice really sort of embrace today's electronic music and indie background, while adding a much more punk soul to the mix. Thhat's what's so interesting about it really, also the music is great. It's a bit like what happened in the 60's when free jazz arrived!
Peaking Lights is an amazing band though, but they're much more, I dunno, musical?

Reminds me of early Pink Floyd.

@peacockskelliton If you don't know where others have been how can you go anywhere? Creativity is contingent, and it seems like people hear Black Dice and think, "whoa they are such trail blazers!" when in reality it has been done by much more creative people in a much more creative way. The guy that made that sequencer should be the one being interviewed. Peaking Lights would be an example of a band that can create their own sonic devices and use them in a creative way. I am unimaginative.

@musicforspeeding its not a competition. its just sounds.

This is pretty damn sweet
They use the same machine to produce music as Linkin Park, that is better evidence than anything that it's the artist and not the medium.

I'm pretty sure getting a piece of gear that is probably already mass produced that a band like Black Dice uses isn't "ripping off others". There are millions of bands that use guitars, that doesn't mean they're ripping off each other. He just wants to know the gear. They use different pedals and samplers and mixers. Basically it's all really simple stuff if you know how to dissect the sound correctly.
