  • that was my first yr with the mustang with street tires and a almost stock 350, the car now has slicks and a descently built 355, much faster now and it hooks up a lot better

  • @chevystang355 That's cool! I know that car had a lot more in it. This was my trucks very first time out too. It's in the 8's now. Stock 5.7 with headers

  • What about the hemi wiring harness? Is that needed for the swap? I am considering doing this swap and have access to the long block without the harness.

  • @bwonderboy I'd get my hands on a harness. I used my 4.7 harness as the base harness and spliced in connectors from the 5.7 where it was needed. This way I could use my 4.7 pcm and not worry about security issues. With the severe lack of tuning available for the Hemis, I probably would not have not done this again.

  • @djruehle .. Can you clarify your last statement? You would probably not have done what again? Done a hemi swap, or use a 4.7 harness? I know there are SCT tuner solutions for my truck (2003 with the 4.7)

  • @bwonderboy I wouldn't have done the swap. SCT can get you close, but not perfect. There is also no transmission tuning at all with SCT. I'm selling this truck and getting a GM truck

  • you got the right idea!!! nice truck,,, all we need now is for CHRYSLER to get it together, and offer a Stripped down 2wd, Reg Cab,, dakota with a 5.7, manual trans, 3:90 gear, with no options, and sell it to the public, it would Be a GREAT lil work truck/daily driver, and on the weekends you could slap some slicks on it (cause lets be honest, it would have traction problems, lol) and go to the drags, then put the streets back on, drive home, and go grab some wood at home depot!! cmon NOW DODGE

  • i have 2 more videos of the car from this year, next yr will will be better, i was in the mid 8s, but i was still smoking the tires at the line with slicks on, gonna upgrade the slicks and the motor i am wanting to get together over the winter should be over 500hp.

  • @BLACKLACDTS

You don't need a Hemi PCM to run a hemi, all you need is the Mopar cable operated throttle body and SCT tuning in the 4.7 PCM. My 5,000 lbs 2006 Quadcab Dodge Ram on 26" tall 275/40/R17 drag radials has run 13.90s @ 96 mph with the tuned 4.7 PCM running a Sidewinder cammed 5.7. I have since added a APS 2,800 rpm converter and 4.56 gears. Will be running on 28" tall MH 325 drag radials this spring. IF it will hook, it will be running mid 13s.

  • It would be like resurrecting the Dakota R/T! They should do it!

  • @BLACKLACDTS anyone can find a nice used 5.7 at a junk yard for short cash out of a ram, charger . 300c. durango, etc,,, i bet finding a 6.1 for short cash is tricky
