@3tangle3 we live in an era of small states it seems,another period no doubt in time there will be return to large multi national states ,imo.Neither are bad,in fact surely multi national states are more acceptable these days.

I don't share Adam's confidence that England could make a success of independence. They will need some help and guidance from the Welsh and Scots (and possibly the Eire government).

Every patronising grin on English telly when the inevitable breakup of the union is mentioned means a couple of thousand AYE votes in the Scottish referendum. The fact that most English know fuck all about English spelling is a problem for English taxpayers. They voted for Trident instead of education and health and now they're moaning.

Maybe we should have a referendum in Scotland, Ireland, India, Canada etc about whether we think the English are ready for independence.
