This is a bluegrass style tune I composed in memory of my mother in laws home made apple and sloes jam! I find this tune is a good exercise for trying out lots of G and C licks.
(Spot the lick from "Theme Time") - played on the 5 string banjo - GDGBD tuning.

  • @rosskl Dave actually PM'd me shortly after my comment and pointed me to his profile on BHO. Im actually a member there myself and I agree, very inspirational.. actually, there was a point in my learning when I tried to copy his style but I found it so difficult.

  • @MartMart If you visit Dave's Banjo Hangout profile you can read the reason for his unique style. Truly inspirational!

  • Fantastic tune!

  • If the jam was as good as your playing then I'd love a jar or two!

  • I've been learning the banjo for a couple of years .. I can play the basic simple bluegrass stuff ..foggy mountain, cripple creek etc pretty ok-ish, but one thing I noticed about your playing, brilliant tho it is, you don't use 1 or 2 finger anchors as is always taught, you just let your hand 'float'. Is this how you were taught, or did you teach yourself without knowing anything about anchors at the time? ( which is kind of how I started off before I found proper tutorial vids)

  • Why does it always remind me of Jukes of Hazard when I listen to this kind of music lol

  • @cinderellalifestyle goodness! good age for a man! bodes well for you! take care! enjoying your channel!;)

  • @123jsbach in honor of me G'ma, I made it once years ago ...truly delish...odd sounding tho!!! and super pretty red, of course....I'll honor her again, some summer...;-)better be soon--for pa is 90

  • @cinderellalifestyle said marmalade sounds like a horror! super cool pickin tho I agree! ;)

  • had to go straight to Wiki for "Sloe" ....:-)
