Tribute to Norbert Langensiepen

Norbert Langensiepen, the talented musician from Sesmarias (Lagoa), died unexpectedly in September, 2005. He was a familiar sight playing on the streets of the Algarve. Popular with all those who knew him for his warm smile and easygoing ways, he will be greatly missed.

Born in Germany in 1956, he moved to Portugal in the mid-nineties. A talented guitarist and composer, he played a wide variety of music, ranging from his own compositions to classical and popular songs. He drew inspiration for his music not only from the Algarve but also from his many travels to Asia, South America and Australia.

An avid football fan and tennis enthusiast, he was well known for his zest for life. A warm-hearted family man, he leaves behind a wife, Petra, and two children, Lena and Paul.

The music you are listening to right now is one of his own compositions and is called "I still remember".

I met Norbert back in the 90s. His playing was amazing so I bought one of his CDs. Ultimately, I wanted to have the other four CDs but then read of his untimely death. Many people seem to have the same problem. What a mess his work isn't listed in Amazon. Got some more Info and a possible contact adress for CD shipping at DAMN... YOUTUBE DOESNT ACCEPT URLs... so write me an email to get the link.

I only knew the Algarve album so far, and I've been listening to it a thousand times I think. Now I read here that Nobert has died some years out of sudden. He was a great musician. All my respect to him. In loving memory to his music.

only just come across this ,me and my wife came across him in the square while on holiday in the algarve a few years ago. it was one of the most romantic times of my life absolutely magicical

Had this playing in the background at our wedding 30th September 2010. We still listen to our cd's all the time but this track has always been our favourite.  Visiting Albufeira is not the same no Norbert has gone. We will always remember him fondly through his music.

My husband and I had the pleasure of hearing him sing back in March 2003, naturally we bought a cd and often listen to it while remembering a fantastic musician and a wonderful afternoon spent in Portugal.
