Crosspicking is a form of alternately-picked flatpicking. It was first developed by bluegrass mandolinist Jesse McReynolds (of Jim & Jesse fame) to imitate Earl Scruggs' 3-finger banjo rolls. For flatpicking by people who actually know what they're doing, check out Doc Watson, Jim & Jesse, Sam Bush, and Clarence White.

  • good job

  • George Shuffler first used this with the Stanley Brothers, Redbill1234 is correct

  • i also play this like you, on a yamaha.. lol . GJ :) Check it out.

  • Crosspicking guitar was first used by George Shuffler in bluegrass music with The Stanley Brothers, It is properly done with a down, down,up pattern, check out videos with George Shuller or James Alan Shelton. Most pickers don't seem to be able to play the proper pattern, as I think they start playing alternating pattern, picking fiddle tunes and then find it difficult to switch.

  • Couldn't tell for sure - are you using up/down fingering or economy fingering?
