Gail Benoit and Dana Bailey appeared in Digby court together The Roxville couple are both charged with animal cruelty under the Criminal Code and Nova Scotia's Animal Cruelty Prevention Act.

Benoit also faces charges of resisting a police officer, assaulting a police officer, and damaging property.

Justice Jean-Loius Batiot adjourned the case until Monday, Feb. 18.

Asked for a comment outside the courthouse, Bailey responded that reporters should speak to his lawyer.

Benoit responded, "I just want to know who is going to play my part in the movie."

Sure they are a registered legal business, then just like a restaurant business has to follow certain standards, then these two should be constantly checked up on and have to meet stingent regulations, all the puppies should be thoroughly checked, needled and show documentation that they have been looked at by a registered veterenarian. Perhaps if everyone STOPS buying from them, they wouldn't have a business to run!

Before all this was known about gail benoit my Husband and I went to her house to look at a puppy and she wouldnt allow us to go where the mother supposidly was. She brought the puppy to us by our car. She said it was a pure bred Rotti but it clearly wasnt! And I didnt like how she wouldnt allow us in the building she kept her animals it was as though she was trying to hide the living conditions of the puppies, I believe the pups became ill under the care of puppies r us not chapman kennels!

The breeder was correct all these rescues need to clean up thier act before they start pointing fingers. More puppies are sold, sick and dying from shelters then from breeders. and there is no recource a new puppy buyer has against a rescue. Laws should be the same for all. Noone should sell sick puppies. The government needs to regulate all puppy sellers. licenses every breeder, supplier, rescue, shelter. broker. Inspect them all. Breeding and puppy sales are not for beginners. Or money chacers

A public protest will be held on Saturday, October 11th @ 1pm. Gail Benoit is going to trial on October 24th, 2008 on two counts of animal abuse. Strangely enough Gail Benoit is still selling sick puppies.

Singled them out? what about the reputation she had made for herself selling sick puppies? or selling the wrong breeds, come on people they are puppies, they should be making regular visits to the vets for all the puppies
