what is so sad about living a comfortable life? I think you guys are missing something. I don't think "tango instructor" is a very highly regarded occupation in Argentina, so of course they would down play it. And there is nothing about getting paid a lot of money for little or no work. It's not like they are prostitues, they are working an angle and as soon as the interest in tango fades, they will have to work like everyone else. Don't hate them for doing what you would if you could.

You have a point, but I don't think he meant an entire generation. In my experience, many newer teachers ( not with respect to age, but with respect to their time in tango) have told me time and time again they got into it to make money off tourists. Of course I am not speaking of the top performers or true advocates. They do it for the love of the arts. I am talking about the rest: they enjoy the lifestyle, get paid with dollars and live a comfortable life without much effort. It is sad.
