  • This drum seems to be quite rare. I have not found many other players on here. I fell in love with the Kong Jaw some years ago. Keep it up. You are good.

  • Thanks man! It's actually not my drum - I've had a djembe for years that's basically worn out. I borrowed this one for a few weeks. Now I'm pretty much drumless.

  • You're a good player but this drum really lacks the bass tones of a djembe and you are playing the drum in a djembe style.

  • Yeah, I know it sounds that way, but it's the mic's problem, not the drum's. I was just recording with my Mac's internal mic, which couldn't pick up the bass. The drum, a klong yaw (yao), actually has a much more robust bass tone than a djembe, particularly a djembe that size. Go check one out some time at a music shop - they're really cool. My biggest complaint is that they're much taller/longer than a djembe and pretty awkward to play sitting in a normal chair.

  • I have been playing the Klong Yaw for about 10 years...this is the most versatile hand drum you will ever find on the planet cause it can articulate like no other drum ...I can play literately everything with it. If you understand what it is to let a drum articulate ..then you will notice that the Klong Yaw from Remo can simple talk ...peace

  • **or reggae and techno-like **

  • more djembe hiphop rhythm please :2

  • wow wow

    you are pretty good

the first rhytm u`ve played is my favourite

  • I agree totally. For me the Klong Yaw represents the best of both worlds. It has the depth of a Djembe, whilst also being able of producing the high metallic resonance of a Egyptian Tabla (or Darabuka).

(I believe the traditional way of playing the Klong is to play it whilst strapped across the shoulder in the standing position. I choose to just sit on it. Do what feels right is my advise.)

Get another klong if you can and keep on going. You have a talent. Take care.

  • I've been trying to find videos about the klong yaw - so glad I found this! I had no idea when I got mine that it's such a rare drum. I love the range it has, and you can really feel those low tones. I just jam with it, do drumming meditation, or drum along with bellydancing music...it's all good. Please post some more of your rhythms.
