Prof. Joseph Avron of Technion's Faculty of Physics lectures on: Should Biologists care about quantum computers? Lecture given at RBNI Winter School on Feb.15, 2010
In recent years physicists and computer scientists realized that quantum mechanics can give powerful new resources for solving challenging engineering problems. Avron gives a primer to quantum mechnanics, explians how it differs from classical physics, and argues that biologists too may eventually want to have a quantum computer on their desk. He explains the notion of quantum bit, quantum entanglement, and describes teleportation and accelerated quantum searches.
