It was normal back in the 60s and seventies.

My granddad smoked pot, my uncle did it. before 1925 it was legal in most countries, but then banned in favor of the oil and paper industries

Romania is still a large producer of cannabis. it is an extremely useful plant and its fibers are used in door panels of cars etc...
