You know everyone thought we got this broken down horse and fixed him..
The truth is, we didn't.
He fixed us, everyone single one of us.
And i guess in a way, we fixed each other to.
:)
Gwyn was like an ex-race horse when he came !
We have three now in a field with him, and he has the same character and personality as two of them.
When i 1st met gwyn, i saw this character below. His ears pricked as it was him that was going to be caught for the 1st time in 8months, he had learnt that he was just a background horse that no-one really ghave a 2nd look at, whenever some-one did walk into that field it was to get their BSJA pride and joys, not to see him.. The fat un-fit pony that did nothing but was so well natured they thought wouldn't care.
The truth is, he did. That pony needed love and attention soon, and you could tell in his eyes when I 1st met him, when i 1st rode him, that there was something about him that told me he'd give 110%.
He was ridden previously as a hill galloper, which basically means he was never trained, just legs or voice meant go, and up the hill he went.. pretty easy life.
Because of his amazing strength, being only 14.1, he had so much power and strenght in that little body of his. So obviously, his owner being 'normal' shoved him in a gag on the strongest hole, a breast plated martingale, flash band, nose band, and a dodgy, wierd looking, wierd fitting saddle.
We took everything off, except the saddle, and bridle with a snaffle mouthed piece we asked her to get from one of her other bridles.. you could tell from her face she wasn't ex[pecting a 13 year old skinny girl like me to get on him, but thats what i did. I loved every second of it..
We then took him home 2 months later, HE WAS NOT what he was like at 1st.
He was so strong, and i mean so strong. It was ridiuclous, and i hated it. I didn't hate him, but i hated his strenght. I hated the fact then when he pulled i would go flying forward and bounced everywhere, thank god i had good balance or I would be on the floor. He didn't slow down, just carried on going. Being the un-fit pony he was, he proved us wrong.. he could go for hours.
I fell off a lot the 1st 3 months, alot. It never lost my confidence, just made me more dteerminded.
The 1st 2 weeks he came, i did no riding just poarelli which helped alot :)
Anyway, so as time went on.. I just taught him to slow down, where his legs should be. How to canter (not gallop) and how to walk, and jog (not fast flat out trot which trust me is the same speed as an 16.2 horses canter )
Then came jumping, hios previous owner said
''He can pop over a 1ft jump nbut nothing special''
Nothing special!?
He had such an amazing love for jumping, whenever there was a jump his ears would prick, his strength would come out and he'd drag me over, not looking what he was doing, if i held him back, he'd try and fake refuse and then leap over it, if i let him go he'd gallop and go to flat and end up clipping it.
finish off this sisters xx
my horse just runs like a race horse when she sees a jump... should I try parelli you think??? could it work? how long shall it take? and do you build a good band with your horse when you do it, cause you seem to have made one :) ... btw your video is reallly beautifull, and i almost gave up on my horse because she isn't controlable on jumping, but I didn't and after what i saw with your video, i totally got my confidence back :)

@nindjapoez Thats exactly the same as Gwyn and wow, that commment meant ALOT, that really did ! :D Thankyou, I seriously suggest parelli, two abused, neglected, rescue ex-racers can now be ridden in just parelli halters out hacking and now come back to their owners,

An ex-racing arab stallion I worked with only allowed me to catch him after doing parelli, I've never seen something so little change such strong horses, I realy suggest it. I cant answer how long it will take, its different for every horse :/ but i seriously suggest it! :D x

I had exactl the same thing with my second pony Finn
"He's good for nothing more than dog meat"
Of course he turned out to be the best pony in the world :) looks like you've done the same wth Gwyn ^-^
