The reason your mirror did not polish right out to the edge is because your lap facets did not reach the edge of the tool. Working with tool regularly on top would have helped to polish the mirror to the very edge. The mirror will still work very well with only a small lost of contrast if the figure is okay. Enjoy your telescope and your superb dome.

Thank for your comment. Next time my miror have to be aluminized I will try to polish as you recomend.

Peshmarga, the mirror is curved. the larger the mirror, the harder it is to get it curved perfectly. It's quite a project and you'd really have to know what you're doing.

It is first time I tried to grind a mirror, but the next mirror will be 16" at least ;-)
