Simon Smoke and Jello

Taking the Canon 7D on a little trip downtown with a friend of mine.

Conclusion: The camera blows me away. Extremely good in SUPER low light. But if you are going to shoot ANYthing serious, do not do it handheld. Put it on a shoulder rig if anything or the jello will not hide.

At large and consistant quantities I would say yes. Fortunately this is the first time I've done shisha in years. Mind you, we are going back next week for breakfast and shisha once again since we only had a half hour at the place, and it was his first shisha experience so we didn't get the full effect.

is the jello improvement a lot better than the D90? or is it just a little upgraded?

Huge improvement. I would say the level os skew is that between the D90 and the RED camera.

The D90 skew is horrendous. The 7D is easily avoidable in most all cases. Just don't shoot it directly in your hands, strap it on to something and increase its inertia.

Should I spend $2000 on the 7D just to shoot family videos and photos. Or is the D90 more than enough, even with the bad rolling shutter?

Honestly, if you can fork out the extra cash for the 7D, do it. I say this simply because if you are going to be shooting family stuff, chances are the majority of it will be handheld, and thus enducing the jello effect. So yeah, i would say go 7D.
