William 'Billy' Cowsill's rendition of 'You Win Again' is the opening track on a double-disc recording called 'Sorrow Bound: Hank Williams Re-Examined' (Ruby Moon Records), a date that also features Jane Hawley, Stewart MacDougall, Tom Phillips and Tim Williams. Cowsill was born in Newport, Rhode Island, and joined his siblings in The Cowsills, whose hit singles included 'Hair'. After leaving the group, Cowsill began a solo career, and was a member of many fine western Canadian bands including The Blue Shadows and The Co-Dependents. He passed away in February, 2006, three weeks before 'Sorrow Bound' was released.

  • @ogenmatic Believe me there are people who care. This isn't what I would thought of "Cowsills" music but it is great to listen to. Enjoy your music.

  • Awesome! This is as good as Hank Williams' version!

  • Such a talented family, once they got pigeon-holed in people's minds, their later work was so overlooked, and yet they went on to do such good work , and have made significant contributions to American roots music.

  • This really deserves more views/listens. Billy was an incredible talent and is missed. Cheers

  • Outstanding.

  • I have the Cowsill albums.

...not that anybody really cares... Good tune and post here, by the way.

  • I had heard this version by Billy before. It is amazing to me how he can do a cover and it sounds better than the orginal artist. To me Billy was a musical Genius.

    Thanks for Sharing.
