@Rosalila During this song sequence, an experiment to create fast growing plants on the moon went overboard. The plants' roots tore the moon in half and then dragon-like forest sprits descended upon the earth raining hell fire and destorying most of the population. The movie takes place after this.

@Rosalila agree with streft but it is about a young girl who is chryogenically frozen and wakes up in the future only to realize that everything has changed and the forest is fighting the people trying to control the forest. It is a very touching film and this is all I will say about it. I recommend this film!

@Rosalila Yes the story is adaptated from a book, but the movie from Miyazaki is better. Origins is really poor,...the scenario is bad, whith a lot of errors and improbabilities. There is just this opening which is wonderful
