  • No need to get all emotional over a hockey game whats done on the ice should stay on the ice. If one team wnats to use cheap shot tactics with intent to injure then the other team should employ the same mentality and thats when the refs should make their presence be felt with penalties

  • fighting is a part of hockey its what gets your team going if they are not playing and it allows you to blow off some steam i have seen fights change games because it motivates your team to try hard

  • Hopefully we can learn from this and screen the imports before signing. It's a shame that people left because of them as they also have other skills besides fighting. I still enjoyed the season and hope the local players enjoyed it as well. We have a great bunch of local talent, and I hope thay continue to improve

  • At first i thought the reffing may be the issue, however the ref was well within is rights to call all those, espec. with the way the team plays. Unfortunately, after speaking with people, the reason people left was due to the players and the display of the coach on Saturday where he allegedly was pretty vulgar and unprofessional in calling out an opposition player. Teams have learnt (so we thought anyway) that here in Oz, you can't do stuff you would overseas. It's too unstable for that.

  • You are right about Sunday. This guy was targeted but should not have been playing on Sunday. How can a guy brake a nose with a cheap shot and not receive and suspension ????????????? What I saw of people walking out was due more to poor refing than to poor behaviour on the ice.

  • Maybe not, but how a player reacts to situations is important, especially in this league. Saturday's kneeing incident was bad, but i do see your point about rational thought. Sunday however was a whole different story. The loss of fans wasn't due to the change of location. People walked out AT those games, and during the season because of these 2 guys. Positive on the team they may have been, but they were negative on the league, and the fan base... those who pay to keep this team alive!

  • I went to all the tongues home games this season. The reason I went to these games was see the postive influence they have made on the local boys. The lost of fans may be contributed to the change of location and lack of seating more so than the players themselves. As for Gates kneeing the guy while he was down was a bit much. But coping and stick across the face and getting a broken nose would not make for rational thought.

  • I don't disagree. If you saw the events of the last weekend of the AIHL season (i assume you didn't), or missed the fight where Bryan kept kneeing the guy in the head you'd realise that shit like that is against the rules the world over. If the league or teams were run with people who have your attitude, the league here would die. It's sad, but it's true. Fans here Australia are not like those overseas. These 2 guys are directly responsible for the Tongues losing fans AND credibility.

  • Been smoking nothing. Not sure if you are trueblue hockey fan. Wether in Canada or Australia hockey should have the same rules. Hard, fast and brutal. Not a goon but men should still act like men, not scoccer players. Not sure how proud a fan can be when their players back down from the game. Respect the game for what it is not what you would like it to be.

  • What the hell have you been smoking? That's not how hockey is supposed to be played! Hockey has rules for a reason. Goon hockey might be ok in Canada, but this is Australia and that shit will not work down here. Anyone who thinks otherwise obviously has no idea how fickle the sport is in Australia at a national level. Either that, or happen to be goons themselves. The Brisbane team may have been like soccer, but at least fans were proud to call themselves fans back then!
