Bruce Irvin NFL Draft Analysis - 2010 Season

The following is a video of Bruce Irvin's 2010 season in which TMB broke down three of his games (Maryland, Connecticut and North Carolina State).

Irvin is #11 and strictly plays defensive end for West Virginia. I understand some highlighting may be spotty as it is difficult when they play more than four guys on the defensive line and also when they are late adjusting to the play. My apologies for that but really nothing I could do to alleviate that issue.

i like how two of his negative plays against Maryland .. he was getting double teamed lol . and one of those plays turned into a sack for the defense .

By that logic if an OT got beat but a play went to the opposite side for a TD, that wouldn't be a negative. The first play, the interior guard shifted towards him and didn't pick up the blitz although it was a almost perfect delayed blitz by the inside linebacker after Irvin had drew attention. The second one he was handled by a single OT. Either one on the first one, he didn't get any push and was pushed off of the ball. That is what I tried to show there.

some of the negatives in this vid are not really negatives the fact that he is being double teamed gives the other DLs more room to execute.

Thanks for putting this together, but before viewing comments and looking at this I thought you didn't have good negative plays- some were holds they got away with, some weren't bad plays, etc- the OT from NC State did a good job of handling him overall- he displayed nice footwork for a college OT- would be curious as to his name.

How is it a negative play when the play is designed for him to drop back into coverage at 03:14 mark against UConn? Especially when the offense only got a yard on that play? That was just good team defense meaning he did his job. Just by viewing the little highlights of him, I can tell he is very raw and needs to work on developing more pass rushing moves and working on shedding blockers. He has an excellent motor and amazing speed!
