BIG UK fan here...went to the AU/UK game in 04 and got to witness this in person(Tiger, not Spirit)..It was 85 that day, and I got cold chills on my arms...This pre-game ritual dwarfs anything else I've seen in our Conference..

You witnessed something truly intense. That Tiger was Auburn's War Eagle six and did the best pre-game flights of any of the birds I have seen. Her style was ominous and she circles the field 4 or 5 times routinely before landing. She was ill most of 2004 (why spirit flew so much), but still gave a hell of a performance. Nova became the new War Eagle seven in November of 2006 and the then 26 year old tiger was retired from game flight. Nova has some big shoes to fill....War Eagle!!

Have to admit this is pretty cool. Much rather see a bald eagle though. Actually seeing 12NT flags, and 21SEC flags fly is more gratifying.

Your in luck!! Spirit, who flies in this video, is a Bald Eagle. Our birds Tiger and Nova are golden eagles. The golden is out official War Eagle bird, but last year 26 year old Tiger was sick with cancer for much of the year and Spirit flew at a lot of the games.
