@zhenyakon tiger turret traverse was 18 seconds full turn with engine running at 3000 rpm and decreased to 70 sec with engine running at minimun, the slow traverse myth comes from ambushing tigers wich had engine at minium or shut off to reduce the canches to be detected and to save fuel, (keep in mind that since traverse power was given by an hydrulic generator driven by the power shaft with engine off turret had to be turned by hand wich required up to 2 min for a full rotation)
@FIFA07Addicted Tiger had thick square armor, T34 had lighter but sloped armor, so T's Armor was compensated by angling it. T-34 had 76mm gun and after it's redesign in '43 it had 85 mm gun to Tiger's 88mm. So 3 mm does not make much of a difference. T34 round had lower velocity than Tiger. In order to penetrate Tiger's armor soviet tanks had to engage in close combat with tiger. German tank round were designed to disable a tank, so it could be captured, soviet is to destroy it.
@FIFA07Addicted On the other hand, American made Sherman could not stop a Tiger even at 200 m while Tiger could destroy Sherman at 1000 m or more. So in this case Tiger is superior to Sherman, but not in every way.
@FIFA07Addicted Who says anything about T34 being the best? The point here is this, Tiger was not a superior to T34. In order to compare these 2. You have to compare speed, armor, turret traverse speed, hull gun caliper, shots fire per min. Effectiveness on three distances, 300-500-1000 m, travel distance, speed & so on. So if you'll compare these 2 they will be pretty damn even. Heavy or not, tank has to be able to do its task. If it could be stopped by lighter tank, than it is a shitty tank.
@zhenyakon true, and the tiger was overrated, but its still slightly better. T-34 was MUCH better to a medium tank than tiger to a heavy tank, but tiger still had more armor and better gun power. and im not even a wehrmacht fan, in fact I hate the german army.
@zhenyakon but the tiger was better, the T 34 was only better at close range. the tiger was a HEAVY tank you cant compare. the tiger had a better gun also. the T34 was indeed the second best not the first.
@FIFA07Addicted What? inferior to a tiger? dude you seriously fucked up on this one. You better read some books or do the research. German Command advised Tiger crews NOT to get into the close combat with T-34/85, Long and medium range only!!! Tiger's turret traversed 3 times slower than T 34. Tiger was twice as slow as T-34 and twice as heavy as T-34. Square armor of tiger did not produced as much of round deflection as sloped armor of T34.
