This is John Hanna from Chugach (FWS contractor) on Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge explaining how the Hydroponics garden at Midway Atoll operates. He is talking to a group of Oceanic Society visitors in March of 2011. The hydroponics garden can supply the about 150-lbs of lettuce peer week to the residents and visitors of Midway. They also grow tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, cantaloupes, cilantro, and Arugula. The sounds you hear in the background are Laysan Albatross.
