There are some kooks who actually think Jesus did not even exist. In the age of internet and conspiracy theories this un-scholarly view seems to impress sophomoric atheists. William Lane Craig and Gary Habermas responds.

This segment came from Dr. Craig's debate with Richard Carrier here:

  • 2000 years is a short period of time historically. Societies of 2000 years ago were in essence modern societies, minus electricity. If someone as strong of a human figure as Jesus lived, there must be evidence. A painting, a statue, writings by the people of Nazareth, Galilee and Jerusalem. There is no mention or art work of anyone by this name and works at the time of his life or shortly after his death. The people of this time were literate enough to write about Jesus if he was real.

  • @derekholt109 *SIGH* There is evidence. The best thing to do when you read or hear of it is to not plug your ears or cover your eyes when you see or hear it, ok?

  • One must say though, that Jesus must have been a pretty insignificant figure back then, considering there is no evidence to suggest he was a significant figure. The very few mentioning of Jesus are from people who weren't even alive during his lifetime, make no historical claims, none of their writings are contemporary and all of them are just talking about what Christians believe.

  • @aprox23 *SIGH* We heard this type of crap before. Get an education: watch?v=zdqJyk-dtLs

  • Dr. Habbermas!

  • @weasel77111: Dr. Habermas is one of the greatest historian and New Testament scholars we have today. I love the guy!

  • @Nederdien: Look in the description area where you can find a link that shows non-Christian evidence for Jesus. Also, the fact that you don't think the Gospels count as evidence shows how biased you are.

  • What......? How can any modern person actually assume that Jesus never existed with all the historical evidence we have for him? Are you kidding, what a joke!

  • Dr. Craig is the man! He executes his points with such precision.

IMHO, I wish he would take Ray Comfort's position when it comes to debating atheists. I really respect and enjoy Ray Comfort's ministry, but he seems to fail when it comes to debating atheists. He needs to let Dr Craig step up to bat in this arena.

  • @xtrashed what blood type have scientists found on the shroud of turin. was jesus rh positive O or A positive.why i ask because that would give away the holy spirits blood type too.

  • I have to say I admire Dr. Craig more and more. I may not agree with all his views (arguments?) but he's a man stepping, up as few have, and defending the faith.

  • @derekholt109 ...plenty was written about Jesus, the last verse of the gospel of John is interesting: "And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen." (John 21:25)

  • @heathdwatts

"there are no historical documents that mention him by name"

Jesus is mentioned by a number of sources, including Josephus, Tacitus, Suetonius, Mara Bar-Serapion, Pliny the Younger, Lucian, middle Eastern writings, and the Jewish Talmud, the last of which contains a number of mentions, one of which may be a contemporary arrest notice. I find that it helps if you do research rather than rambling crap you get off of the internet.

  • @derekholt109

"writings by the people of Nazareth, Galilee and Jerusalem"

Check, We've got 'em! He's mentioned a number of times in the Jewish Talmud, and among these mentions includes what could possibly be a contemporary arrest notice.

  • @derekholt109 So your saying there are not piece of artwork or statues of Jesus? Rio de Jaeneiro? Da Vinci? And what if those artforms are inspired by the Bible, maby there was a reason Jesus was "erased" from everything.

  • @heathdwatts No archeological evidence? Nazareth is a city that still exists to this day and is lived in by thousands of people what are you talking about?

  • no matter what people say, thinking that jesus christ did not exist is simply stupid. if anyone can create a character, which will be able to spread around the world in the time of absence of modern technologies, and influence so many people, i'll gladly give that man all of my possessions. with the same success you could form a religion around the batman and good luck with that

  • @drcraigvideos lol, nice one dude :)
