1) Moon Dreams (Chummy MacGregor / Johnny Mercer, arranged by Gil Evans)
2) Deception (Miles Davis, arranged by Gerry Mulligan)

from the album 'BIRTH OF THE COOL'
The arrangement of "Moon Dreams" is based on the 1944 Glenn Miller recording of this song, which was released as V-Disc 201. The music for "Moon Dreams" was composed by Chummy MacGregor, the pianist, arranger, and composer in the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics. Martha Tilton first recorded the song in 1942 for Capitol but as a straight pop song. The Glenn Miller-Chummy MacGregor big band influence continued after World War II.
