THE GANGSTER FILM features working-class protagonists attempting to realize the American Dream.

They make it, for a time, but inevitably fall.

We enjoy watching their rise and their fall.
After all, it wouldnt be right if crime payed.

To some extent, the gangster film helps us recognize
that most people -- particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds -- will not realize the American Dream, no matter how hard they work.

They can only achieve the signs of success through crime, for a brief moment in time.

I really liked BREATHLESS. It is a bit slow but the ending is great. The characters in it an unlikable but very interesting complex people.

breathless... i watched it, never saw it again or ever heard of it again. and dare i say it sucked, one that i would like to recommend is "Je t'aime, je t'aime" from Alain Resnais, now thats a true masterpiece
