in expensive restaurants, you get paid pennies. the only thing you're getting paid is to have them on your resume and even then you can get fired. i knew people who worked those Michelin star restaurants and was getting paid only minimum wage to 11/hour. but i do agree that private/personal chefs can make a pretty good living. dont go to culinary school to be in debt if you dont want to make less than that prep cook who just got his green card. work in a restaurant, get paid to learn.
what i dont get is you go to high education institutions to make more money. but surprisingly a high school drop out can make more than a cook with a culinary degree. and dont say "i have passion." passion doesnt pay the light bill.

Thats not always true...if your a high class cook for a expensive place.. or even a personal cook for somone famouse. you will make alot.
