Hawthone Muchachos perform "Ritual" at 1975 DCI Prelims. One of the first times a snareline performed a sixteenth -note run down the line. The solo was written by Muchachos drum instructor and DCI Hall of Famer Dennis DeLucia based on the "Yes" creation from the album "Tales From Topographic Oceans".

  • Ha Ha! We got it. Fact is my friend in 1975 everyone of those Corps on the field in Philly had someone overage. After The Muchachos got screwed everyone else starting pulling there senior members. There were blanks in every corp. And you know what it wasn't really about the overage member violation it was about power, greed, politics, and the fact that members of DCI at the time hated the director of The Muchachos and DID NOT want them or ANYONE from the east to take home the World title.

  • WOW! Where did this video come from? Was it a produced video?

  • This clip is been floating around the drum corps world for years. The full 1975 muchachos show from the day after this prelims performance at hershey Pa. is now available from Drum corps world. The dvd has this clip on it as well. Go to their website to order the dvd.

  • jersey had more than just yhe cadets,we had the bridgemen, muchachos, and yhe blessed sacrament golden knights

  • Muchachos were the best Senior corps competing in the Junior corps circuit. New Jersey only has one true Junior corps, and they keep changing their name (Cadets). Still, I loved the Muchachos 1975 show! They were awesome in Prelims (in Philadelphia) before aging out!

  • I was there as a spectator this year. (It was near Philadelphia, PA, not Hershey). They certainly wowed!! The buzz was pretty amazing. Again, we'll never know, but it was quite likely, we could have had a DCI Champion from the East...

  • @MrSatch49 I know! Pat Petrillo was my drum guy for a while, he declares as a fact (or used to ) that they WOM Prelims. We'll never know. They certainly sound like a show that was good enough to win.

  • @tommytimp They probably would have won had they not been disqualified for marching an over-age drummer. There was much controversy over the disqualification though.

  • I have the '75 DVD from Hershey, and it does NOT include this!

  • I had the audio tape of that show on an old hard drive that went blooey. Not only did they probably win, (top 3 at least) but that's the loudest drumline I ever heard.
